PATRON -
The Late JIMMY BONE.
It is with deep sadness that Africa On The Ball announced the passing of our much-loved patron, Jimmy Bone at the age of 75 in September 2025.

He made a guest appearance at our Inaugural Charity Golf Tournament at Hagg’s Castle, Glasgow brought to life the main reason that the players had turned up to play. His passionate explanation about the great need in Zambia and opportunity for making a huge impact with support was met with great warmth.
“Jimmy wasn’t just a Patron of Africa on the Ball – he was a true friend and supporter of everything we stood for. From the moment we met, he bought into the ethos of the charity and could never do enough to help. He shared his remarkable experiences in Zambia, but more than that, he championed the idea that football can change lives. His warmth, generosity, and passion will be sorely missed, and we will always be grateful for the time, energy, and heart he gave to Africa on the Ball.”

We remain committed to honouring his memory by continuing the work he so passionately supported.
I really didn’t have to think about saying yes to become a patron of Africa on the Ball because I really believe in what the organisation does. Having been to Zambia, I’ve seen the impact organisations such as Africa on the Ball can have in helping young people. Football can be a great tool to engage young people and help them in all walks of life. I look back with great fondness on my time in Zambia and encourage people to get involved with Africa on the Ball’s work helping to develop education and healthcare in communities through football.
