Trustees Wanted!

Africa on the Ball is an international sport for development charity with great ambition. Across the past 10 years we have successfully been using the power of football to change lives.

We use football to promote positive change: health messages, education, community development, gender equality and more. We support young people to play football in a structured way and as part of a team. As part of that team we also work to challenge, teach skills, open up opportunities and nurture desire to give something back to the community.

We are looking to strengthen our dynamic Board of Trustees and would be particularly interested to hear from individuals with experience in one, or both, of the following two areas:

  • Marketing and Communications

  • Fundraising

We are keen to hear from very experienced individuals as much as we are from those with an absolute passion with recognised successes in these areas. You may not yet have experience in management or as a Board-member, but we can support you in this area.

These two vital roles are directly connected to the purpose of our charity’s work and the opportunities come at a time when the new strategic plan is being created. Both will require passionate individuals that will strive to facilitate the development, implementation and success of our creative strategy in this rapidly changing environment.

You will join a Board, that is presently made up of five Trustees, in working with an effective ‘On the Ground’ executive team to support the charity’s work, to plan for the future, and to ensure the highest standards of integrity and good governance at all times.

The minimum annual commitment that is requested (from all our Trustees) will be to prepare for, attend, actively participate in, and progress (and/or complete) actions assigned to you in a timely manner from the five Board meetings. Presently our meetings are held virtually. Occasionally, in addition, you may be requested to support the charity in some capacity away from the Board meetings.

Africa on the Ball positively welcomes, and seeks to achieve, diversity in our workforce.

If this sounds like this could fit what you are looking for, please email a covering paragraph with the subject heading ‘what I would bring to Africa on the Ball’ along with your CV including two contactable references to jerome@africaontheball.org.
