The purpose of the visit was to gain first-hand insight into the work Africa On The Ball is doing in Kalingalinga—using the power of football to advance education, healthcare, and social enterprise within the community and beyond. As a direct outcome of this visit, Africa On The Ball hosted a two-day football tournament featuring 16 teams. The tournament was fully sponsored by Mr. Jito and his team. In addition, a major milestone from the visit is the commitment to drill a new borehole that will supply water to the football pitch and the surrounding community.
Five years ago, Africa On The Ball installed a solar-powered borehole serving Kalingalinga Primary School and a community water kiosk. Over the years, increased school enrolment and population growth in the community have placed pressure on the existing water supply.
The drilling of an additional borehole comes at a crucial time. The original borehole will now operate independently to serve the school, while the new borehole will cater for the community and the football pitch—ensuring sustainable access to clean water for all.
