Bavarian International School Football AOTB Fundraiser 2026

The Power & Passion of the Beautiful Game was on full display with Primary & Varsity students, Alumni & Friends, respectfully battling and enjoying a truly spirited BIS Community event, that raised another €300 (so far) for coaching and academic scholarships in Kalingalinga.

Perfect "Kaiserweda"inspired the Primary Lion Cubs, The Gamm Gang, Varsity BIS Lions and the BIS Alumni & Friends to play an 8 a-side tournament against all teams in the very best of sporting spirit thanks to Coach Andi. Its unlikely many of the participants will have experienced the sense of real competition on the football field with players from such different extremes in age, size and ability, pushing for the rewards, and yet commanding the respect needed to play hard but fair. The formal, but touching, hand clap to each player after each match was a new experience for some, and cemented a bond that they had participated in something really special.

New School Director, John Barker, showed his community spirit by pulling on his Munich 1860 shirt and playing for the Alumni as an ex member of staff. He gave a great account of himself, including the fact that he scored a great goal, an own goal. It was was another example of the real warmth and opportunity for the almuni to have another reason to reconnect or meet new friends.

Coach Andi deserves all the praise for making this happen for a second year, but this time with the primary students that added a deeper connection with "Football for Good". The game doesn't just "change lives" in the low income, over-crowded suburb of Kalingalinga, Lusaka, but also in Haimhausen, Bavaria.

Thank you Bavarian International School for helping to "change lives through football"
