Obster Siakotela
My name is Obster Siakotela, born and bred in born in Kalingalinga Compound near Kalingalinga Grounds where Africa on the ball was established from.
I was born on 15th October 1999, did my primary school at Kalingalinga primary from 2008 to 2014 were I wrote my grade seven examination and this same grade I developed more interest in joining the organization because during primary school days Africa on the ball used to do P.E and Outreaches program with us as a school. 2015 went to kabulomga Basic School which is the junior secondary grade from 8 to 9 where I would still participate in a few program because the distance had changed. In 2017 after passing Grade 9 I went to Kabulonga Boys Secondary School where I did my Grade 10 to 12 and passed with a grade 12 Certificate in 2019. After completing my Grade 12 school I fully embarked on a journey as a full time Volunteer for the organization at Africa on the ball and we started being a member of outreach programs.
Africa on the ball is a grass Rooted organization because it's always working with people in the community and its offices are within the community. Africa on the ball has a lot of different program running like:
Sanitary and Menstrual Hygiene program this is where everyone month a girl child is supported with sanitary pads and other menstrual health activities.
Education program every boy or girl child is empowered with books in order to support they are school program.
Africa on the ball works with other organizations or strategy partners for capacity building on leadership and opportunities.
The organization has helped me personally with schools fees and helped the community with development in water developed in terms of setting up tanks stands and running water in even in rural setup. Organizing tournaments in rural areas by giving prizes and talking about other issues through sports. The organization also works on empowerment program for skills development for which am among the beneficiary of the program I did ICT. This program is focusing in developing members of the organization so that they can have skills that can help sustain livelihood in the society
Africa on the ball is working with schools in outreach program. Members of the community are always benefiting from its program and hence giving some challenges to the organization. The funds are limited. Volunteers stop doing the voluntary work when they're is a job opportunity due to limited funds to pay volunteers who can work because they're fully love and deducted to work but life basics need keeps them away at time, furthermore, due to the growth and demand of its programs the organization, would need to come up with fund production so that many people can be involved.
